Thermapen ONE Instant Read Thermometer

I bought the Thermapen meat thermometer expecting to know when my meat was cooked. What I didn’t expect was emotional growth, spiritual clarity, and poultry-related confidence.

This thing is so fast it tells you the temperature before the meat has finished thinking about it. I barely touched the probe to my steak and BAM accurate to the degree. My old thermometer took so long I aged, grew a beard, and questioned my life choices.

This Thermapen One replaced my original model from 10-15 years ago. I used it every day in the kitchen, and it never missed a beat.

The on/off switch finally became unreliable, but who can blame it - what wonderful durability! Side by side with the new One, they read the same temperature measurement.

I love the fact that the One is powered by a common AAA battery and that it has a backlight and faster response time. I have no doubt that it will still be going in ten years’ time.

I have several devices for reporting temperatures during cooking, that are network enabled. I’ve found all to be over engineered, fragile, unreliable. The thermapen is the opposite: great engineering, highly accurate, simple to use and reliable. If you are going to buy one device for measuring temperatures in baking, grilling, roasting, even home brewing, I recommend the thermapen.

My first impression when I took the thermopen out of the box was how heavy and substantial it felt in the hand. It feels solid and well made and I’m impressed by the quality of it. Other things I like are the fine tip making insertion into meat easy and precise, the response time of the reading is very quick and the backlight is really useful when cooking outside in low light.
